Mapping a group drive on a Mac
You need to either be connected on Eduroam wifi or have the UIS VPN connected
Click on the Finder icon in the Dock.
Click on the Go menu and choose “Connect to Server”.
Apple Mac’s need to use the SMB protocol to map group drives, so to convert the windows filepath you need to start the path with smb:// and convert all backslashes \ to forward slash /. eg \\blue.cam.ac.uk\Inst is converted to: smb://blue.cam.ac.uk/Inst
Click connect and then add in your crsid and password and press connect. (If it doesn’t accept your crsid try your full @cam email)
To add to your favourites hover over the icon of the group drive then click and drag to your favourites in Finder
Troubleshooting
If you do not see your data immediately, restart your computer and check again. Sometimes it is visible immediately, sometimes it needs some time to synchronise and sometimes a PC needs a reboot to force the connection to the data.
