How to forward an email as attachment in Outlook or Webmail

Introduction

This is a guide for users who need to forward an email as an attachment.
The CSCS will commonly ask users to forward us phishing emails using this method.

If you are sending the CSCS Service Desk a spam / phishing email that we have requested, please send the email to cscsservicedesk@medschl.cam.ac.uk with the subject line in this format "[IN-Your ticket number]" including the brackets; for example “[IN-000X000] Suspicious email” or you can copy the subject line from our email to you asking for a copy of the phishing / spam email. 

Requirements

An email account set up in Outlook, or an email account logged in to the webmail system (http://outlook.office.com/).

An email that you wish to forward as an attachment.

Instructions

  1. Open Outlook and click on the message you wish to forward so it is selected.

  2. Click on the Home Tab as pictured below.

  3. Select the More dropdown menu.

  4. Click Forward as Attachment, this will open a new email message window where you can add the relevant information of who you wish to send it to.

  3. Click Forward as Attachment, this will open a new email message window where you can add the relevant information of who you wish to send it to.

 

  1. Open and sign in to Webmail. http://outlook.office.com/ or the Outlook (New) Application

  2. Select the email(s) which you want to attach, right click and select "Copy". You can select multiple emails at this point

  3. Open a new email (either a new email or a reply)

  4. Right click and select "Paste" and your messages will be attached in .eml format.

  5. Compose and send your email.
