Installing VHD Attach

VHD Attach is a program that makes it much easier to open your Windows System Backup. We install it on by default all new computers, but you can install it yourself if you need to.

How do I know if I need to install VHD Attach?

If VHD Attach is not installed, then you will not be given the option to Attach the backup file, and your backup will have this icon:

Installing VHD Attach

 

  1. Open the Software Self Service page: https://software.medschl.cam.ac.uk/
  2. Sign in with MINTS or Biosci credentials
  3. Click Downloads in the left hand menu
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page until you see Install VHD Attach
  5. Click Install VHD Attach
  6. Click Install
  7. Setup will launch, and complete, automatically.
  8. Reboot your Computer (this is required)
