Introduction

This guide explains how to configure Outlook 2019 or Outlook for Office365 to connect to Exchange Online

  1. Open Outlook

  2. Click on the File in the menu

  3. Click on Account Settings and then Manage Profiles:

  4. If a User Account Control prompt appears, click Yes:

  5. A window will appear with 3 options, click Show Profiles

  6. Another dialogue box called Mail should appear. Click Add...

  7. Choose a new name for your new profile and click OK.

  8. The Add Account wizard will now appear. Type in the following:

    1. Your Name

    2. Email Address - in the format: CRSid@cam.ac.uk

    3. Password/Retype Password - enter your Raven/@cam password

  9. When finished logging on, click Next

  10. Move the slider to the right, until All selected if you wish to keep copies of all emails on your device (it will only be a copy of the emails on the Exchange Online server held centrally in the Cloud), then click Next and then Finish

12. Back at the Mail dialogue, select the drop-down Always use this profile, select your new profile from the menu, and click OK.

If you wish to be able to switch back and forth between Medschl on-premise Exchange email and Exchange Online email, choose the option Prompt for a profile to be used. Then every time you launch Outlook you will be prompted to choose where Outlook will be pointed.

13. Close and re-open Outlook.

Your new profile is now loaded and your Exchange Online account is now added in the left sidebar (NB: This will show up as crsid@<mail domain>.cam.ac.uk eg abc123@medschl.cam.ac.uk)

Wait for your mailbox folders to sync.

Outlook is now set up, and you can begin adding customisations to your new profile, such as your email signature etc..
