CSCS uses the Computer Name and Serial Number to connect to it remotely, and to track information about it in our systems.
This article describes how to quickly find this information.
How to find the Computer Name

Open the Settings application, either by going to the Start menu and click the Settings button:  Or by typing "Settings" into the search and open the Settings application:

 Alternatively, if you open up the Company Portal application (which you can open from a Windows search) then select Home, it will show the Computer Name UMD-****, see below:
 For devices running an older versions of Windows or a non-UMD device, you can open Command Prompt application, by typing in “cmd” into a Windows search, then within the Command Prompt windows, type “hostname” and then press the Enter key, which will display the computer name:

For UMD devices the Computer name is the Serial Number. To find it Click the Apple Logo in the top left corner of the screen and select About This Mac, then the serial number is displayed in the details

NOTE: Differences on macoS 13/VenturaOn macOS 13 (aka "Ventura"), the settings are organised slightly differently. Go to Apple logo > System Settings > General > Sharing and scroll until you see your computer name listed under Hostname at the bottom of the settings pane:

How to find the Serial Number/Service Tag:

For a Dell computer, there is usually a sticker on the case which shows the Service Tag, similar to the below pictures. Desktop:  Laptop:

For Apple Mac’s the Serial Number should be printed on the bottom of the device. Otherwise from the Apple Menu in the corner of your screen choose About This Mac, then serial number should be displayed in the details
