Exchange Online handles incoming email differently than the medschl email system. Therefore any fine tuning of your Block Senders list that you might have been doing in Outlook will not be automatically transferred to Exchange Online. We recommend that you wait to see if you receive any spam once you have been migrated and if you do, to then add those senders to your blocked senders list.

Spam or Phishing messages in Exchange Online

If you receive email that you think is spam or phishing messages you can report them so that any further email from that sender are removed and they are reported so that they are investigated and blocked for everyone.

In Outlook

To report a message in Outlook:

...

  • Junk - for any spam or junk email that should not have made it through to your inbox choose this option

  • Phishing - if you think the message is trying to lure you into clicking on a link or opening an attachment choose this option

  • Not Junk - if you notice a message in your Junk folder that is a legitimate message, you can indicate that it is not junk so that it is not blocked in future.

Blocked Senders List from Medschl Email

Should you wish to move your blocked senders list from medschl email to Exchange Online you can follow this procedure. As mentioned above this is probably not necessary given the different levels and types of mail filtering. Should you wish to do this you will need to do it manually after your mailbox has been migrated.

How to move your Blocked Senders list

To do this you need to have access to your medschl mailbox in Outlook

  1. Open up Outlook

  2. Click Home > Junk > Junk E-mail Options

    3. Open the Blocked Senders tab and click Export to File. Choose a location to save the file, name and save it.

  3. You will now have a .txt file that you can use to create new blocked senders in Exchange Online

  4. Go to Exchange Online https://outlook.office.com/mail/ in a web browser

  5. Click on the gear icon near the top right of the window

  6. Click View all Outlook Settings at the bottom of the Settings pane.

  7. A Settings pane will then appear.

  8. Click on Junk email

  9. Click + Add

  10. Open up your text file of blocked senders

  11. Paste in an email address and hit the enter key on your keyboard

  12. Repeat steps 7-9 until you have added them all
