Introduction

This is a guide for users who need to forward an email as an attachment.
The CSCS will commonly ask users to forward us phishing emails using this method.

Requirements

An email account set up in Outlook, or an email account logged in to the webmail system (http://outlook.office.com/).

An email that you wish to forward as an attachment.

Instructions

 Using Outlook on Windows
  1. Open Outlook and click on the message you wish to forward so it is selected.
  2. Click on the Home Tab as pictured below.
  3. Select the More dropdown menu.
  4. Click Forward as Attachment, this will open a new email message window where you can add the relevant information of who you wish to send it to.
  5. If you are forwarding the CSCS Service Desk a spam / phishing email that we have requested, please send the email to cscsservicedesk@medschl.cam.ac.uk with the subject line in this format "Incident# [Your ticket number]" without the brackets' or you can copy the subject line from our email to you asking for a copy of the phishing / spam email.

  6. If you have received multiple spam / phishing e-mails, please be aware that you can add more than one spam / phishing e-mail, to your new, draft message. 
 Using Outlook on MacOS
  1. Open Outlook and click on the message you wish to forward so it is selected.

  2.  In Outlook

    Click on the Message Tab as pictured below.

  3. Click Forward as Attachment, this will open a new email message window where you can add the relevant information of who you wish to send it to.

  4. If you are sending the CSCS Service Desk a spam / phishing email that we have requested, please send the email to cscsservicedesk@medschl.cam.ac.uk with the subject line in this format "Incident# [Your ticket number]" without the brackets; or you can copy the subject line from our email to you asking for a copy of the phishing / spam email. 

  5. If you have received multiple spam / phishing e-mails, please be aware that you can add more than one spam / phishing e-mail, to your new, draft message. 
 Using Webmail
  1. Open and sign in to Webmail. http://outlook.office.com/

  2. Create a new email message.
  3. Select the three dots option  in the top menu,  and from the drop down options, choose - Switch to plain text. 
  4. Find the email you wish to forward in your inbox, then click and drag the desired email into the body of your new email. This will add the email you dragged as an attachment in the new email.


  5. If you are sending the CSCS Service Desk a spam / phishing email that we have requested, please send the email to cscsservicedesk@medschl.cam.ac.uk with the subject line in this format "Incident# [Your ticket number]" without the brackets; or you can copy the subject line from our email to you asking for a copy of the phishing / spam email.
