File data recovery procedures
User - File recovery from SDH group drive
Users can recover their own files from Previous Versions.
- User logs into SDH Citrix
- Expand mapped study drive to locate folder to apply data recovery
- Right click over the folder/file and select Properties
- Click on Previous Versions tab
- Select snapshot to recover from and click OPEN
- Select and copy data from snapshot window to live data folder.
CSCS - File recovery from SDH Study drive
- Obtain written approval for granting CSCS staff access to SDH data from group Data Manager or PI.
- Add CSCS staff user to SDH Study Full Control group. e.g. S0049 - Group - FullControl
- Log into SDH Citrix https://securemints.medschl.cam.ac.uk
- Load Citrix Desktop
- Expand Mapped Network Drives
- Expand drive mapping SDHS Studies (S:)
- Browse to folder with data needing recovery
- Right click over the folder and select properties
- Click on Previous Versions tab
- Select snapshot to recover from and click OPEN
- Select and copy data from snapshot window to live data folder.
CSCS - Volume level disaster recovery from snapshot
(Roll back volume to point in time - Post point in time data and snapshots will be lost)
- Identify the volume that needs reverting to a snapshot (SDH User and VMware Data)
- log into NetApp cluster
- Identify and validate the volume.
vol show sdh_group_s0001 - Identify the snapshot to revert to.
snap list -volume sdh_group_s0001
- Revert volume to snapshot.
snap restore -t sdh_group_s0001 -s daily.2018-02-25_0010
Testing recovery procedure
Following recovery steps listed above (CSCS - File recovery from SDH Study Drive). E.g. s00001
- Obtain access approval to study s0001
- Open ADUC and add your user account to group "S0001 - Group - FullControl"
- Using your user ID, password and pin/2FA, log into SDH Citrix https://securemints.medschl.cam.ac.uk
- Load "SDH Windows 7 Desktop"
- Expand local computer drives
- Expand the S drive mapping
- Expand the study folder "s0001 - PD Clinic"
- Right click over "Cambridge Brain Bank", select properties
- Select Previous Versions tab
- Select a previous version folder, click OPEN
- Select contents of windows
- Right click over contents and select COPY
- Browse to recovery target location (U:\Recovery Target) in Windows Explorer
- Right click and select PASTE
- Verify that the data
- Confirm modified date is older than the current date
- Where possible, open a number of files and verify the contents is readable
- Update the Test Recovery log with results

- Delete the restored data
- Logout of SDH Windows 7 Desktop
